This Pirate Looks at 50

This Pirate Looks at 50 Yes…I borrowed that line from Jimmy Buffett and yes I turned 50 this week.  How did this happen?  It seems just yesterday I was in school, sitting on the back porch with my buds listening to Buffett’s  double album “You Had To Be There”, Live from the Fox Theater in Atlanta.  I was a huge Parrot head back then and knew every line to every song he sang.  Actually I was pretty obnoxious unless you liked him to.  Like most of my favorite music, it reminds me of a time in my life when I was younger and little to worry...

The Family Vacation

The Family Vacation The Family vacation is one of those iconic, all American things that we do.  As a kid, my dad had conventions every summer at different places around the country and took us along as part of the package.  We went to some really nice trips and of course Disney World well before the craziness it is today.  I once thumb a ride from a limo driver at the Greenbrier down to the pool.  If I were not playing golf or tennis, you would find this kid bass fishing in the ponds along the fairways for hours.  Classy,...

Where we come from, we have a little bit different scene to say the least.  Our beach house on St. George Island, Florida is where we spend our holiday week boiling peanuts, doing a low country boil...

The Old Man has still got it! - Fathers Day

The Old Manhas still got it With Father's Day coming this weekend, I can’t help but to think how lucky I am to have the ol' man around.  He’s 87 years old, still gets around, a little bit, and still has a smile on his face… most of the time.  My dad never met a stranger and could work a room, meeting people and shaking hands better than anyone you have ever seen.  He was the best at it back in his day!  Now he has traded those halls at the Capital and political functions for waiting rooms and doctor’s offices. He can't be missed bumping into you with his...
